This 1970s two-story house already had an existing two-bay garage. The goal of this project was to create expanded garage space, allowing the current garage to be converted into a workshop with connection to services.
The garage addition was designed to take full advantage of the lot. This required working with grades to build up the foundation and include the desired garage, as well as a secondary structure that expands the workshop and a breezeway that allows access to the backyard. The finished design complements and extends the styling of the house. The roof pitch and returns of the new garage echo the lines of the original house, the brickwork of the existing structure was also matched and the hexagonal gable vent provides a recurring motif.
